BRASS CATS

The Brass Cats are a 15 piece student brass band based in NE Portland founded by trombonist and Beaumont Jazz Coach Jeff Chilton. Drawing from the strong music programs in Grant, Madison, and Jefferson Highschool, the students in the Brass Cats meet for a week long summer workshop each year to imbibe in the great tradition of New Orleans party brass music. They study traditional and contemporary brass band music and its role in building neighborhood camaraderie, inspiring individual expression through group and solo improvisation, and staying current in a modern music environment influenced by world music and hip hop.

The performance on Sunday August 14 is the culmination of the 2022 workshop. This year the ensemble has also performed at a pop up show in downtown PDX and recorded one of their pieces at Super Secret Recording Studios.

SCINTILLA LANE

Friends since middle school, Connor (bass) and Hunter (drums) have been playing music together for years. Scintilla Lane was born when Matthew (lead vocals/guitar) reached out to the duo about playing together and Brandon (guitar) joined only a few weeks later. Scintilla Lane rocked the house at Alberta Abbey 1 year ago and are returning in anticipation of their debut album release.

LUNCH SPECIAL

The Lunch Special is a group of talented up and comers playing beyond their years. High Schoolers dedicated to learning and performing jazz music.
