This project unites sarode player Alam Khan, son of the late maestro Ali Akbar Khan, with celebrated South African guitarists Derek Gripper and Guy Buttery, building on a foundation of improvisational discovery.

Gripper and Buttery's signature guitar styles provide a rich, flowing foundation for Khan’s breathtakingly expressive sarode. It’s an unlikely yet perfect fusion that bypasses the usual symmetry of global music collaborations in favour of a more intimate story of friendship and shared intuition.

The project anchors the weight of two heritage traditions—Khan’s North Indian sarode and Gripper’s classical guitar meets West African kora style—with Buttery’s organic, self-taught finger-style providing flights of 21st century wizardry.
