For the first time, The Chris Baum Project and Soul Vaccination, two of Portland’s premier funk and soul bands, will be performing together, on September 2, at the Alberta Abbey!

SOUL VACCINATION

Soul Vaccination was founded by Chris Baum in 1994. In 1999 Chris relocated to the east coast, leaving the band in the good hands of Trumpeter Dave Mills, and returned to Portland to form the Chris Baum Project in 2007. In the years since the two bands have continued to pursue their goals: Soul Vaccination, led by saxophonist Gary Harris, has written, produced, and recorded a number of original songs, while Chris and his Project have taken on the monumental task of learning and performing the intricate and challenging music of Steely Dan.

This event will be a reunion of sorts since many of the musicians in The Chris Baum Project joined Soul Vaccination at its founding in 1994. With each band having 12 members—including stellar horn sections, polished vocal arrangements, and smoking rhythm sections — while performing some of the greatest music ever written, prepare yourself for an unrivaled evening of entertainment!

This special weekend of music is part of Elevate Unity Benefit Music Concerts. We invite all who support local musicians, community, & unity!
